Introduction to Sourdough Workshop // January 2022

This is a live-taught, virtual workshop taught on Zoom.

Join me as we learn the mechanics of sourdough baking— what is it? how does it work? what is a starter? and most importantly… how can I make baking a routine part of my daily life?

I fully believe that baking with sourdough is a skill that any home cook can master! To that end, I teach my workshops with a specific aim toward approachability. Sure, bread-making can be a super precise, artisanal craft. But it can also be a practical way to feed a busy family! In this two hour course, we will cover:

  • What is a sourdough starter, how it’s maintained, and the incredible science behind its function.

  • The start-to-finish process of making a sourdough loaf, both sandwich style and in an artisanal boule.

  • How to customize loaves with different flours and additives (note: this will not include gluten-free flours)

  • Practical timelines for adapting the bread-making process to your personal schedule.

You will also receive:

  • A printable recipe book with my two favorite daily recipes— a classic artisan boule and a wildly unfussy sandwich loaf.

  • Printable notes to supplement the workshop curriculum and specific guidelines for feeding a starter.

  • 2 weeks of one-on-one communication with me for consultation and follow-up as you bake your first loaves.
